CogniDox adds Product Manager and InfoSec features in new Version 8.9

Cognidox today announced the availability of CogniDox version 8.9.0 with additional Product Manager and Information Security features.

Cognidox Limited, a leading provider of document control software for product development teams, has launched a new version of its flagship software platform.

CogniDox has many features to improve the productivity of the Product Manager role. One feature, Document Holders, is useful for linking documents in product release management. Another aspect is Licensee management, useful for controlling download access rights to content stored on a partner or customer web portal.

Version 8.9.0 enhances this functionality by making it possible to mass-license and mass-approve a number of documents in Document Holders. It adds capability to manage Licensee details such as multiple address locations. It provides methods to auto-expire login accounts for an expiring license and alerts for any Licensees with upcoming expiration dates. To help manage licensees, it is possible to create reports of lists of licensees based on attributes (e.g., all customers with active contacts based in the USA with access to a particular product).

The new release increases the Information Security features already available. These help to protect companies against the threat of insider vulnerabilities. One way is by alerting a company to unusual user behaviour, such as a sudden increase in document downloads. We record changes to security profiles and other events more verbosely in the CogniDox event log. This provides an audit trail of who is doing what and when to your document security. CogniDox has added logging of attempted CSRF and XXE type security attacks.

The new release offers a number of user interface improvements. For example, users can drag and drop single files from a desktop onto a CogniDox document page, or upload groups of files as a bulk import using the same technique. It is easier to set up personal document reminders on documents in order to receive an email reminder on the scheduled day. Users can also create reminders that email other users and groups on a scheduled basis.

System administration has been made easier through further integration with the Nagios® system monitoring application. Nagios is a leading open source solution with commercial support options also available.

These are just a few of the 81 new feature enhancements in 8.9.0.

Release 8.9.0 is available for download from the CogniDox support site and is a free upgrade for all customers with a current subscription.
