Ubisense to launch new Smart Factory modules for Industry 4.0

Ubisense Group plc, a global leader in location intelligence solutions, will launch two major new modules at Hannover Messe for its market-leading Smart Factory system.

Hall 7, Stand B16, Hannover Messe 2015, Germany, April 13-17, 2015

The applications will offer significant advantages to manufacturers that want to benefit from Industry 4.0 capabilities and make onerous manual assembly line processes like barcode scanning a thing of the past.

Smart Factory is a production-certified portfolio of manufacturing optimization solutions. Designed specifically to help manufacturers reduce the cost of complexity, Smart Factory can help manufacturers sustain continuous flow, optimize efficiency and reduce errors in manual assembly processes. By accurately identifying and locating process-critical assets, Smart Factory provides real-time operational awareness, adaptive control and data-driven insights.

As a major addition to the Smart Factory suite, one of the modules can eliminate the cost and burden associated with relocating and rebalancing process identification points. Highly accurate location technology removes the need for barcode scanning and other legacy identification mechanisms, transforming fixed assembly lines to be completely flexible and easily malleable. The other is an incredibly powerful tool-control application, which automates traditionally manual identification tasks, and frees tools and operators from both the tether and the workstation. The ensuing process changes can drive significant reductions in errors and rework, leading to better throughput at reduced operational effort.

Further information about the functionality and benefits of the new modules will be unveiled on the first day of Hannover Messe. At the show, visitors can also discover why 50% of the world’s top global automotive companies and three of the world’s top six off-road vehicle producers are already benefiting from Ubisense Smart Factory to achieve competitive advantage and a rapid return on investment.

The Ubisense stand will feature live demonstrations of the benefits that the new modules can deliver on assembly lines. Commenting, Terry Phebey, Vice President, Global Manufacturing Sales, at Ubisense, said: “With the move towards the Industry 4.0 era of product customization, manufacturers are facing transformative change and grappling with market forces that are driving an unprecedented surge in production complexity. Visitors to the Ubisense stand at Hannover Messe will discover how the advanced capabilities of our Smart Factory system can enable them to conquer complexity and embrace it as a differentiated market strength.”

He continued: “We look forward to welcoming manufacturers that want to reap the benefits of Industry 4.0 capability including measurable cost reduction, guaranteed productivity gains and dramatic quality improvements.”

Hannover Messe is taking place at Hannover Exhibition Grounds on Monday 13 April until Friday 17 April 2015, from 09.00hrs to 18.00hrs daily.

About Industry 4.0
The term Industry 4.0 refers to the introduction of cyber-physical systems into the manufacturing industry and relates this to a fourth industrial revolution. The first industrial revolution was the mechanization of production using water and steam power. This was followed by the second industrial revolution, which introduced mass production assisted by electric power. The third was the digital revolution, where electronics and IT were used to further automate production. Industry 4.0 involves a transition to intelligent networked systems that are capable of sophisticated real-time decision-making, removing guesswork and uncertainty. Smart sensors capture critical data about the end-to-end supply chain and production status, enabling machinery and processes to automatically adapt according to precise requirements and changing circumstances.
