Mills & Reeve crowned ‘Employer of the Year’ at 2015 Business Excellence Awards

Pure Resourcing Solutions (Pure) would like to congratulate Mills & Reeve, which was crowned ‘Employer of the Year’ at last night’s prestigious Cambridge News Business Excellence Awards.

With a local office in Cambridge, the legal firm impressed the judges with its comprehensive approach to creating an engaged workforce and positive place to work.

The winner of this award, which is sponsored by Pure, demonstrated a genuine commitment to its people beyond the latest employee benefit trends, and a focus on creating an environment in which their people can thrive. The employer was judged on a range of criteria including strong leadership, employee learning opportunities, respect, diversity, teamwork and giving something back to the community.

Mills & Reeve’s balanced approach includes flexible working, job-sharing, encouraging a culture of teamwork and thanking staff. It is also very dedicated to making a positive impact on the community, with staff taking part in charity fundraising and voluntary work.

Colleagues enjoy a culture of mutual support, whereby people encourage each other. Not only that, but the last Mills & Reeve staff survey showed that almost all of their people (96%) said they would recommend the firm as an employer.

Lynn Walters, Director of Pure and an award judge, says: “Each year the quality of entries for this category increases, but it was Mills & Reeve that exceeded expectations as a good, local employer. Also, on a national basis, the firm has been listed in The Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies to Work For index for 12 consecutive years – this level of consistency indicates there is real substance to its engagement programme.”

The Arthur Rank Hospice Charity was highly commended for its highly engaged culture, which has been achieved without the additional perks that commercial organisations are able to offer.

“I also offer my congratulations and thanks to all Employer of the Year award entries, which all demonstrated exceptional engagement practices,” adds Lynn. “I encourage them and other employers to enter in 2016.”

In addition to sponsoring Employer of the Year, Pure also co-founded the Best Employer Eastern Region initiative, which helps organisations understand their employee culture, and develop and evolve engagement ideas. As an established recruitment consultancy, Pure helps organisations recruit and retain the best people, and by sponsoring these highly respected awards, we encourage organisations in the eastern region to strive to create best places to work.
