Deloitte Corporate Finance advises the Gooderham family on the sale of Snape Maltings

Deloitte Corporate Finance has successfully advised the Gooderham family on the sale of the Snape Maltings freehold site and commercial portfolio to Aldeburgh Music for an undisclosed sum. The Deloitte team was led by Tim Hansell, who heads up Deloitte’s Corporate Finance team based in Cambridge.

Snape Maltings is an award-winning independent retail and leisure destination based at Snape, near Aldeburgh on the Suffolk Coast, and is one of Suffolk’s leading and best-loved tourist destinations. Snape Maltings has been owned by the Gooderham family for 50 years.

Commenting on Deloitte’s role, Johnny Gooderham, Managing Director of Snape Maltings, said: “Deloitte did a fantastic job for us on this deal, guiding us through a complex sale process, adding significant value along the way and delivering a great outcome for the family. I would have no hesitation in recommending Tim and his Deloitte team to other business owners who might be thinking about selling or realising value.”

Commenting on the transaction, Tim Hansell, Corporate Finance Director at Deloitte, said: “We are delighted to have advised the Gooderham family on this complex transaction and we wish the family well in their future ventures.”

Tim added: “M&A activity in the Eastern region is gathering real momentum at the present time and we are currently working with a number of business owners in respect of trade sale and management buy-out solutions. However, for many business owners the concept of a sale or equity release can feel really daunting and unfamiliar. This is where we can help - we are always happy to invest time with people to help them understand what a sales process entails and what the different strategic options for their business might look like.”
