New MSc Marketing / CIM Diploma scheme launched

Students completing their MSc in Marketing can now benefit from a seamless pathway to gaining a professional qualification in addition to their academic one. The new scheme comes from Cambridge Marketing Colleges (CMC) and Nottingham University Business School (NUBS), and allows students to gain the Diploma in Professional Marketing from one of the world’s leading professional bodies for marketing: the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

The MSc Marketing programme is practically focused and grounded in the latest ideas and principles. CMC and NUBS work with recognised organisations and the industry to ensure that teaching remains relevant to employers, and is at the cutting edge of marketing practice. Cambridge Marketing College is a leading provider of courses leading to CIM qualifications.

The new pathway requires students to complete two additional assessments necessary to gain the CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing, which can be taken alongside their Masters degree studies. The cost of taking the pathway will be included in the MSc Marketing fees, and all teaching will take place within the one year MSc timeframe.

“We see this as a real benefit for our students in today’s competitive job market, and one that allows students to demonstrates a clear commitment to a career in marketing”, said Charles Nixon, Master of CMC.

“We believe this scheme offers our students an exceptional opportunity to gain an internationally recognised professional qualification alongside their academic qualification”, added Dr Linda Peters, Associate Professor in Marketing, NUBS.

For more than 100 years, the CIM has been supporting, representing and developing marketers and the profession. Their qualifications are recognised worldwide. Students may opt to continue their studies with the CIM and, together with appropriate employment experience in a marketing related role, gain full member status (MCIM) and even become a Chartered Marketer.
