Voyage Manager expands expedition tracking service

Following frequent requests from solo travellers, explorers and expeditions to provide tracking, Voyage Manager has launched a new expedition tracking portal.

Solo travellers and expeditions want to have both additional security when travelling and the opportunity to share information about the preparations for and the progress of their trips. With the new portal www.expeditiontracker.com. Voyage Manager now provides both these services in an innovative way.

The portal provides a fast and easy-to-use platform for travellers to create a personalised webpage for their event. The individual expedition may display live GPS tracking, information about the participants of the event, a blog, pictures and it also integrates with Twitter.

In addition, expeditions may hire tracking devices from Voyage Manager through the portal. Voyage Manager offers GSM based trackers as well as satellite based trackers and satellite phones to adapt to the situation in the destination country. The portal will contain a free tracking alternative in the form of a smartphone tracking app.

“We have provided support and advice, including advanced tracking, to a number of expeditions and lone travellers to date. What we are doing now is to take it one step further by combining all our knowledge and creating an easy to use portal. We plan to make the portal a dynamic go-to site where expeditions can find useful advice and communicate with other adventurers, and it will be developed based on feedback from our users.

With the tracking the travellers will feel safer, and some of our most popular trackers also allow for text messages, status updates on Facebook and live tweets from areas without cell coverage to allow them to stay in touch with the rest of the world wherever they are, so I am sure that this product will be well received by our target market,” said John Scott, CEO of Voyage Manager.
