Technology Strategy Board publishes autumn round of grant opportunities

The Technology Strategy Board has published information on a series of grant funding and R&D procurement opportunities that businesses can bid for at different times during the autumn. The subject areas include IT, food, healthcare, energy and advanced materials.

In addition to the Grant for R&D, under which businesses can apply for funding in any subject area at any time, the TSB runs periodic competitions for grant funding for collaborative R&D projects as well as the Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI). Under the SBRI scheme, public bodies commission fully funded feasibility studies and R&D projects in specific challenge areas.

Some calls for proposals are already open and their deadlines are looming, while others are due to open later in the year. Any businesses based in the East of England that wish to bid for funding under any of these schemes can in principle receive free support from the Understanding Finance for Business programme. Competitions for Collaborative R&D grants

Building Performance Evaluation
This competition will support companies in their evaluation of the performance of case study buildings they design, build, own and/or operate. This will help builders and developers to deliver more efficient, better performing buildings. The competition is in tranches. The current tranche for non-domestic buildings closes on 14/09/11. At least one future tranche will cover domestic buildings.
