Deloitte & Touche LLP's Cambridge office has welcomed three senior people into the Tax practice.

Partner, Chris Maton, has returned following a year's secondment to the Birmingham office whilst director, Jon Meeten, has also transferred from Birmingham to Cambridge. Paula Higgleton, also a director, has relocated from the firm's London office.

Jon Meeten is a Corporate Tax director and Technology sector specialist. Having spent eight years with the firm, his clients range from owner-managed businesses to mid-market PLCs and he has significant experience in transaction-based work and international tax issues.

Paula Higgleton specialises in Personal Tax, advising shareholders of family companies, UK and offshore trustees, executives of listed companies and internationally mobile and non-UK domiciled individuals on strategic tax planning. This work ranges from income-tax and capital gains tax issues to planning for inheritance tax.

With experience in both corporate tax and shareholder planning, Chris Maton now works predominantly with entrepreneurs, advising on tax issues related to MBOs and spin outs, fundraising and start-ups, exits and succession planning, business transition and reorganisations, and equity reward structures. He has worked closely with companies in the technology, biotech, food and agricultural sectors.

George Atterbury, Head of the Tax practice at Deloitte in Cambridge, commented: 'Tax in this country has never been more complex. In the face of the new share incentive legislation, changes to stamp duty and research and development, it is crucial that companies and wealthy individuals can access the best advice locally on the most efficient tax planning techniques. We have built a strong team with broad capabilities to serve our local client base and these new team members further strengthen our proposition. Whether clients are seeking corporate tax advice or guidance on personal tax planning, we have talented individuals on hand, and our sector experts bring yet more specialist experience to bear.'
