Strem Chemicals provides more information about the Buchwald ligand family

The Buchwald ligand family is now well-known and its use in catalysis has had a significant impact in research and development and in the development of C-C and C-N bond forming reactions.

Methanesulfonato(2-dicyclohexylphosphino-2',6'-di-i-propoxy-1,1'-biphenyl)(2'-amino-1,1'-biphenyl-2-yl)palladium(II), min. 98% [RuPhos Palladacycle Gen. 3]
Strem no: 46-0314   CAS: 1445085-77-7

Initially, the use of these ligands was made in conjunction with a palladium precursor leading to the formation of the active species in situ. In order to impart a higher level of control over catalyst formation and delivery into the active catalytic cycle, the area has moved toward the use of well-defined palladium complexes bearing the ligand of choice. This approach has also been taken by the Buchwald group at Massachusetts Institute of Technology who has developed two components-in-one-complex that brings together the metal center and a series of ligand designed by the group

A palladium complex bearing Ruphos, one of the Buchwald ligands (this one named after Steve’s cat) is available from Strem. This complex has found applications in C-C and C-N bond forming reactions. This item is sold separately and can be found as part of our Buchwald kits.
