Strem UK is first in UK and Ireland to supply gold nanorods synthesised without CTAB

Strem Chemicals Inc and SONA Nanotech have signed a distribution agreement for the world’s first gold nanorods synthesised without CTAB.

 

Strem Chemicals UK, a distributor of specialty chemicals for research and development, is happy to announce it is the first company in the UK and Ireland to be able to supply gold nanorods (GNRs) completely synthesised without CTAB. CTAB is a cationic detergent, soluble in H2O and readily soluble in alcohol.

SONA Nanotech Ltd. (SONA), a manufacturer of gold nanoparticles, yesterday announced the signing of a distribution agreement with Strem Inc. in the US.

SONA is the first company in the world to be able to synthesise and stabilise high quality gold nanorods without the use of CTAB, “Over the last 30 years, there has been incredible progress within the research community working with gold nanoparticles in the areas of photothermal cancer treatment, diagnostic imaging, drug delivery and other areas.  CTAB is a major concern in advancing the existing research into human use,” stated Dr. Ephraim Honig, COO of Strem Chemicals.
