Explore Independent Cambridge: Duke House

15-03-2016

With the help of Independent Cambridge - the definitive guide to ‘real’ Cambridge - Cambridge Network continues its weekly exploration of the best independent shops, cafés, restaurants, venues and events in Cambridge and the surrounding area. This week: the beautiful boutique B&B, Duke House.

If you appreciate individuality, style and comfort and are looking for accommodation in the heart of Cambridge, a stay at Duke House will tick all your boxes.

Nestled in between Christ’s Pieces and Parker’s Piece, everything about this boutique bed and breakfast is elegant, traditional and ever so charming.  There are five, tastefully decorated large guest rooms, each named after a Duke.

Liz and Rob Cameron opened their super stylish retreat when they saw a gap in the market for boutique accommodation, and it has been going strong ever since. The house itself dates back to 1860 and once housed the Duke of Gloucester so it really is fit for royalty.

Guests can enjoy a home-cooked breakfast in the dining room, complete with its own internal courtyard. The majority of the ingredients Liz uses are locally sourced, giving guests a true flavor of Cambridge. Then, at the other end of the day, there’s the Duchess sitting room with comfy armchairs to recline into after a hard day's sightseeing.

Duke House is a two-minute walk to both The Grand Arcade and the historic centre, so it really does make it the perfect base for exploring Cambridge.
