cr360 wins TWI Award for Technology Export at Cambridge News Business Excellence Awards

Cambridge-based EHS and sustainability management software developer recognised for constant growth and global client base.

cr360, part of UL EHS Sustainability, today announced that it has won the TWI Award for Technology Export at the Cambridge News Business Excellence Awards 2016.

The accolade highlights the Cambridge-founded company’s innovation and growth. Since its founding in 2002, cr360 has seen its software adopted by global clients including Centrica, CBRE, Philips and Heineken, who use it to accurately capture, manage, and report the Sustainability and Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) information needed to ensure compliance and drive performance across all business areas. Recognising the strength of its technology and customer base, UL, a global leader in safety science, acquired cr360 in February 2016, providing worldwide scale and the resources to expand the company’s software into new markets.

cr360’s success was announced at a glittering awards ceremony last night (Thurs), held in the Great Hall at King's College, Cambridge and hosted by television presenter Jonathan Dimbleby.

Founded by university friends Richard Kirby and Anthony Jenking, cr360 now works with over 200 customers. Sales have more than tripled over the last three years and staff numbers have grown from 33 to 150 employees, split between its Cambridge and Chicago offices. 65% of revenues now come from outside the UK.

"Cambridge is globally recognised as a hub for technology innovation, and being based in the city has helped us grow rapidly to become a leader in our market," said Richard Kirby, Co-founder, cr360, and now Product Director, UL EHS Sustainability. “Winning this prestigious award, against such tough competition, is testament to the strength of our technology and the tremendous efforts put in by all our staff over the past 14 years. Our acquisition by UL marks the next stage in our journey, and we look forward to continued success well into the future.”

Other recent accolades for cr360 include winning the Queen’s Award for its outstanding international growth as well as inclusion in the Sunday Times' Hiscox Tech Track 100 league table of the UK's fastest growing tech companies for 2014 and 2015.
