World’s best orchestra sends players to Cambridge

Members of the world’s best orchestra – the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra – will appear at the Cambridge Union on Tuesday 12 April (7.30pm) for a popular programme of music for string quintet, from Mozart to Piazzolla.

The five musicians who make up the Berlin Philharmonic String Quintet (BPSQ) are soloists in their own right who blend perfectly. Whether they are performing Mozart, tango-inspired Piazzolla or a showpiece for double bass, their performances display breath-taking virtuosity and never fail to put a smile on your face.

The director of the Cambridge Music Festival, Justin Lee, said: "I am delighted on behalf of Cambridge Music Festival to welcome back the Berlin Philharmonic String Quintet. The Festival is all about attracting and showcasing the world’s very best classical music talent. And anyone who heard these players in our 2014 Festival will know that the quality of their playing is astonishing. Above all, their concerts are a lot of fun so don’t miss this special opportunity."
