Explore Independent Cambridge: Homestuff with History

With the help of Independent Cambridge - the definitive guide to ‘real’ Cambridge - Cambridge Network continues its weekly exploration of the best independent shops, cafés, restaurants, venues and events in Cambridge and the surrounding area. This week: vintage interiors from Homestuff with History.

From their first home in Hope Street Yard, brother and sister team Matt and Kathryn Brown have been selling their gorgeous eclectic mix of unique and quirky ‘stuff for the home’ for over 10 years.

Now happily settled in Green Street, the siblings have brought their vintage take on interiors to the high street and when we say vintage – we mean it. This isn’t another shop selling ‘vintage-styled’ stuff, this is the real deal.

Stock is sourced from a network of house clearers and Matt and Kathryn’s eye for the unusual means they often spot great items overlooked by others. They also have dealers from Europe stop en-route to antique fairs and a delve into the back of the lorries always brings interesting rewards.

The actual era is not important, but what Matt and Kathryn look for is the quality of items. As a trained carpenter, Matt will renovate if necessary, so you know what you are buying is good stuff.

Alongside the vintage are interesting new pieces such as gorgeous ceramic lamps handmade in France and Homestuff with History’s own range of candles and soaps.  Stock is always changing as the siblings never know what they might find. So if you see something you like, chances are you’d better buy it!
