It will be themed around ‘Organising for IP Exploitation’, and will feature an impressive line-up of speakers discussing some of the challenges and opportunities faced by IP professionals:
- Stephan Wolke is Head of Intellectual Property & Services at Thyssenkrupp AG, the global steel production and manufacturing giant. He will describe how IP has become central to Thyssenkrupp strategy and the impact that has had on the business.
- Ian Harvey, Former CEO of healthcare company BTG Plc, will discuss IP and China, de-bunking some myths and offering practical guidance.
- Annie Brooking is CEO of award-winning, Cambridge-based tech company, Bactest and author of Intellectual Capital and Corporate Memory. She will provide insights into developing successful IP-based business strategies gleaned from her extensive experience as a CEO and non-executive director bringing many new products to market.
- Ian Anderson is Innovation Director at Bespak, a leading developer and manufacturer of complex medical devices, with an innovation centre in Cambridge. Ian will discuss the use of IP as a marketing and commercial tool.
This will be the third Strategic Intellectual Property Forum, jointly run by the IfM and Cambridge-based intellectual property firm Avidity IP to help companies in the Cambridge area and beyond exploit their IP on a commercial and strategic basis.
Dr. Frank Tietze is a lecturer at the IfM and a prime mover in the SIPF initiative. “We have a fantastic line-up of speakers for our third Forum. It will be a great opportunity for delegates to hear from – and talk to – these practitioners who have very different experience and perspectives. We started the Forum with Avidity in order to contribute to the region’s expertise in IP and the interest we have had in our events so far suggests that it is a useful initiative,” says Dr. Tietze.
Adrian Howson is CTO of Avidity IP where he heads up a group providing supplementary business and innovation services to support Avidity’s clients and attorneys alike. “We co-founded the Strategic IP Forum with a vision to offer an open-source environment for professionals with an interest in IP as a place to come together and learn from each other’s experience and challenges. Building or acquiring IP assets is an expensive and lengthy process which makes it vitally important to know how to leverage these IP assets in order to extract their maximum value.”
The event is for decision-makers and IP managers in businesses of all sizes, with VPs of Technology, Heads of IP and Licensing Executives already registered. Attendance is free of charge, although pre-event registration is required.
