Encouraging the spirit of innovation

Harnessing organisational innovation and creativity is something Peter Kubietz of Michell Instruments was seeking prior to attending Making your Organisation Innovative in October 2011.

Cambridge Judge Business School's Making Your Organisation Innovative is a five-day executive programme that identifies the key concepts of creativity and innovation, and how to unleash this within an organisational context.

Unlocking this innovation and creativity from within is something Peter Kubietz of Michell Instruments was seeking prior to attendance of the programme in October 2011. Based in Ely, Cambridgeshire, Michell Instruments are a fast growing sensor and instrumentation technology provider, supplying products through a global distribution network and to various industries and applications.

As Head of Marketing, Peter recognised that in order to keep Michell Instrument's leading position within its niche and grow further, becoming innovative and encouraging the spirit of innovation within the company is key to its ongoing success.

"For Michell Instruments, aligning the innovation process with our strategic intent is crucial for our future success. This programme not only helped me to expand my innovation methodology, but also revealed how to actively search and recognise sources for innovation in existing, random internal processes for an SME.

"The mixture of delegates from different backgrounds, organisation types and positions was a key ingredient to not just learn how diversity can enhance innovation, but also experience it while learning."

On completion of the programme, Peter has revised the New Product Introduction (NPI) at Michell Instruments to better align it with the organisational strategy, along with improving internal processes to harness internal innovation.

Making your Organisation Innovative is delivered by the Director of Cambridge Judge Business School, Professor Christoph Loch, and runs again in June 2012.
