Cheffins boosts Planning and Development team with key strategic hire

Cheffins is increasing its profile within the Planning and Development industry across the Cambridgeshire region with the appointment of Jon Jennings as Departmental Director.

Jon Jennings joins Cheffins from Strutt and Parker, where for the last three years he was head of planning for Cambridge. Prior to this, John was a principal planner at Pegasus Planning Group, and before that at a number of District Council planning departments.

Led by Ian Smith, Cheffins’ Planning and Development team has gone from strength to strength with a number of significant projects in the past year. Most recently, Cheffins has been heavily involved in the East Cambridgeshire Local Plan, which includes a number of large housing schemes in South Cambridgeshire and East Cambridgeshire, as well as its traditional work for rural businesses and landowners throughout the region. The firm is seeing a continuing increase in the demand for planning advice relating to planning applications & appeals, local plan processes and planning advice relating to property transactions.

Ian Smith, Director of Planning and Development at Cheffins comments: “Jon has over 25 years of experience in the planning industry as well as significant local knowledge of the Greater Cambridge region. He is well-respected amongst institutions, property companies and landowners alike and we believe that his appointment will help Cheffins to continue to provide sound, professional planning advice throughout the local area.”

Jon Jennings, Departmental Director at Cheffins comments: “Cheffins is one of the most well-established firms for a range of property specialisms in the region and I was attracted by its passion and dedication to growing the Planning and Development team. Cheffins acts on behalf of some of the region’s largest land and property owners and already has an impressive portfolio which I hope to help increase through my network of contacts.”

Jon’s appointment comes two weeks after Cheffins’ announcement that Ben Pridgeon in the Planning and Development team has been promoted to Associate.
