CDP would also like to congratulate other FRM project team members, James Baker, Lucy Sheldon, Andy Wynne, Ben Kübler, Colin Grant, Tom Whiting and George Bostock who share the win.

The Elektra European Electronics Industry Awards celebrate excellence in design, innovation and technology within the European electronics industry. The calibre of submissions was world-leading, with nominees and projects spanning the breadth of the industry.

When announcing the Design Team of the Year award, Chairman and Editor of Electronics Weekly, Richard Wilson, commented, “First Response Monitor is the world’s first connected face-wearable device to help medics save the lives of multiple trauma casualties in disasters or on the battlefield. Rather than use traditional medical monitoring techniques, the design team employed skills such as user understanding and undertook user research with combat medics and paramedics to assess how they currently worked and identify the most important elements in a first responder situation.”

Ben Crundwell, FRM Project leader and Consultant Electronics Engineer, on the award.  “This award has capped an amazing year for the FRM (First Response Monitor) and CDP. After several years’ work, it’s great to see how positive the response to it has been — from the first responders themselves, through to industry peers in design and now, electronics. Where to from here? We know the demand for it is there, so now we’re actively looking for partners to help us to take it to market.”

CDP would like to congratulate all of their fellow Elektra Award 2016 winners and nominees. Tom and Ben were really impressed with technical excellence shown in all categories and enjoyed meeting fellow nominees — a good night was had by all. Thanks to Electronics Weekly and award sponsors for making the event possible.
