The short film was written, produced and edited within 48 hours as a part of the SCI-FI LONDON film challenge. The Cambridge based team were given the following criteria to incorporate into the film within 48hrs; Purple Is Her (Title), A map – a character studies the map and marks a location (Prop), including the words ‘Very clever, you’re a real asset’ (Dialogue).
If shortlisted, the film will be screened as part of the prestigious SCI-FI LONDON Film Festival. In 2008 Gareth Edwards’ submission led him onto his first feature film. Edwards has since directed Godzilla and the latest Star Wars feature, Rogue One. SCI-FI-LONDON is the home of fantastic film and is the UK’s leading Sci-Fi and Fantastic film event spanning over 16 years. As The Guardian said “SCI-FI-LONDON is where ‘what if’ meets wtf?”

Jonathan Howard, film writer-director said: ’’This competition was the perfect opportunity to bypass testing the waters and simply dive straight into the deep end head first. The 48 hour element definitely intensified everybody’s spirit and creative drive, all supporting each other over 2 days. Although the team took a much needed lie-in come Tuesday, it is undeniably refreshing to have a finished film and share it around the world’’.

The official Cambridge premiere screening of ”Purple Is Her” is on 17th April 2017 from 1900 at The Emperor (21 Hills Road) where you will have a chance to meet and participate in Q&A with the cast and crew.
