Explore Independent Cambridge: Cambridge Wine Merchants

With the help of Independent Cambridge - the community of ‘real’ Cambridge - Cambridge Network continues its weekly exploration of the best independent shops, cafés, restaurants, venues and events in Cambridge and the surrounding area. This week: Cambridge Wine Merchants.

Located just on the corner of picturesque Quayside, this classy wine shop and bar takes full advantage of the setting, with views over the river to Magdalene College and St John’s College.

Of course, the other major advantage is that you get to choose from the incredible 900 multi award-winning wine range at some pretty good prices – just buy any bottle from the shop, pay a small corkage charge and sit and soak up the view. You can also buy by the glass, but it’s not just wine on offer. The ‘by the glass’ list includes Sherry, Port, dessert wines, whisky, beers and spirits, and the staff really know their stuff and are more than happy to offer advice.

Complementing all the wonderful drinks are some simple yet tasty platters including sharing boards with local cheeses and charcuterie, scotch eggs and pork pies, smoked fish and a selection of other posh nibbles.
