Emergency team thanks secret Santa

Christmas came early for staff at the Accident and Emergency Department at Addenbrooke’s Hospital today (Friday 21 December) – thanks to their very own secret Santa.

A woman, who does not want to be named, pulled up outside the department in a Mini car stuffed with no less than 300 presents for staff.

Emergency Department operations manager David Monk said staff were overwhelmed by the generosity of the well-wisher, who had wrapped up everything from bottles of fizz to toiletries and chocolates.

She wanted no recognition for her gesture – but simply made the point that she wanted to do something to thank the team for the work they do to help the community.

Mr Monk, who helped with the unloading, said: “We would like to say a public thank you to this lady. It was such a magnificent gesture and will certainly cheer up those who are working through Christmas, rather than spending it at home with loved ones.”
