New site helps you discover the 'real' Independent Cambridge

A new website just launched by Independent Cambridge aims to help you discover the ‘real Cambridge’. Use it to step off the beaten track and explore the city’s charming, historical side streets and inviting passageways, and its wonderful array of specialist shops, cafés and restaurants.

Run by long-term residents with a true passion for all things indie, the site is packed with valuable insider knowledge of the local scene and includes a comprehensive directory of independent businesses. Its wealth of information will be equally useful to locals and to the many tourists who visit the city every year.

Anne Beamish, one of the founders of Independent Cambridge and writer of the three colourful Independent Cambridge books, says: "We're delighted that our brand new site is now live.

"We've made it much easier to search our database of local indies, added in lovely photo galleries, created indie tours and made it possible to share the indie love.

"The new site is mobile-friendly and uses geolocation to provide destination details of hundreds of indies in Cambridge and the surrounding area – from coffee shops to cost accountants. You won’t find a chain in site!

"If you need some inspiration then you can also scroll through ‘Our Faves’ section or take one of our curated indie tours and make a day (or night of) exploring what we know to be the real Cambridge."
