Lorna Hazeltine, who runs the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) shop in Whittlesey, headed upstream from Putney Bridge in London, past Hampton Court, to Runnymede, and then on past some wonderful scenery all the way to Henley.
She said: “It was super tough. Walking continuously for 62 miles takes some doing, but I’m stubborn so it wasn’t going to beat me. When my feet and legs became painful I was spurred on by the thought of the families EACH supports and what it provides for them.”
Incredibly, it was the second time Lorna had done this challenge for EACH. She raised £900 this time, having previously raised £821 in 2015.
Lorna has been with EACH for six-and-a-half years, keeping its Whittlesey shop, in Market Street, in top order.
EACH needs to raise £2.5 million from retail every year to help sustain its vital service. The charity has 25 shops across the region, so donations and volunteers are always welcomed.
