Explore Independent Cambridge: Radmore Farm Shop

With the help of Independent Cambridge - the community of ‘real’ Cambridge - Cambridge Network continues its weekly exploration of the best independent shops, cafés, restaurants, venues and events in Cambridge and the surrounding area. This week: Radmore Farm Shop.

The way a lot of us shop for food these days usually means we end up swapping quality and flavour for convenience. If you have bought from markets or farm shops then you will know that good quality produce (and the variety offered), tastes so much better. Vicky and Ben, the hard-working couple behind Radmore Farm Shop, definitely know this and have come up with a clever way of making sure you don’t have to make compromises on what you eat because of how easy it is to buy it.

Radmore Farm is not just a made-up name – it’s a real, family-run, mixed livestock and arable working farm based in Northamptonshire. It’s where Vicky grew up and where she now lives with Ben and their two young boys (her blog ‘My Family and other hungry animals’ is well worth a read). As an experiment in to farm diversification, the family started a small shop at the farm, and encouraged by its success and a desire to offer people an alternative to chain supermarkets, opened their first farm shop on Mitcham’s Corner in Cambridge in 2006.

To say trying to drive in to Cambridge to pick up your food shopping can be difficult, is somewhat of an understatement! Now, you don’t have to as you can shop online with Radmore’s AND get all their produce, as well as produce from a range of other local suppliers and producers, delivered to your door. From meat, bakery and fruit and veg through to eggs, dairy products and essential pantry items, all are available for delivery throughout Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire (and in between!), and if you live outside of these areas, orders are sent by courier. So, for a taste of the good life but with the convenience of shopping online – just visit the website.
