Community spirit takes Conscious Communications all the way to national recognition

Cambridge-based public relations and marketing agency, Conscious Communications, has reached the finals of the SME National Business Awards in recognition of its desire and ability to affect positive social change in the community.

Shortlisted for the Community Business of the Year category, the agency has been acknowledged for its commitment to using its influence and expertise for good in the local community. The agency’s dedication to such work gained it recognition in 2017 when it was awarded the PR Week ‘Force For Good’ Award and in 2018 when it received Investors In People Gold accreditation – an accolade not previously awarded to an agency of such size.

Alison Taylor, Managing Director at Conscious Communications, said: “We are constantly striving for opportunities to combine our strategic expertise and unique creativity with socially responsible ethics and principles. Our drive to promote social mobility and access to education for all led to the creation of FXP Festival, our award winning community education initiative, which helps children improve their career aspirations and prospects in the creative digital sector. Such initiatives ensure all children from the local community receive an equal opportunity to reach their full potential.”

The agency also offers pro-bono support to local charities through a volunteering programme and Charity of the Year project. Taylor continued: “This year we have been working with Red Balloon, from advising on social media strategy and running Wordpress workshops, to designing its annual report. The team was extremely positive about our work and, while we take great satisfaction from how well we do, it’s the doing good that we are most proud of.”

Karen Schmiady, Head of Fundraising, Marketing and Communications at Red Balloon Learner Centre Group said: “This partnership came just at the right time for Red Balloon and has had a lasting impact on our charity’s capacity to embrace marketing and communications challenges. Conscious Communications has challenged and inspired us and their enthusiasm for the work we do was apparent in everything they did for us. They are wonderful people to work with and their support has made a lasting difference.”

In response to Conscious Communications’ most recent success, Taylor said: “We are extremely proud that this important area of our work has been recognised by the SME National Business Awards, as we truly endeavour to apply a conscious ethos to everything we do. Our ambition is to do well by doing good, and to influence others to do the same.”
