CambridgeSoup joins forces with WOUP

Following on from the success of launching CambridgeSoup in February, Allia is pleased to confirm the date of its second CambridgeSoup on Tuesday 24th May 2016 at Allia’s Norfolk Street Future Business Enterprise Centre, Cambridge.

A key ingredient – the soup, will be provided by a Cambridge based social enterprise, WOUP, that make tasty wholesome soup from unloved veg that would otherwise go to waste. The main event is the chance for people to pay £5 on the door, enjoy a bowl of soup and vote for one of four pitches from local good causes that then win the prize fund.

Zoë Loughlin, co-founder of WOUP said “We are really excited to be providing the soup for the second CambridgeSoup event. It gives us a great opportunity to tell people about our enterprise, test our recipes and to support a great event that brings the community together to support local initiatives”.

CambridgeSoup is an initiative designed to bring together local good causes and social ventures with members of the community, who each donate £5 into a prize fund, then hear the four ventures pitch a project, enjoy a bowl of soup, and vote for a project to take home the donations.

February CambridgeSoup winner Marina Pallares from Acting Now won the prize fund of over £170 to help her start a new acting workshop to support refugees who have been relocated to Greater Cambridgeshire. Marina has used the seed funding from CambridgeSoup to help fund 6 workshops and a final performance for the new target group.

CambridgeSoup is a great way to raise money, build community support and get connections to local resources that can help develop a local project that bit further. If you are interested in pitching your community project idea at CambridgeSoup or attending to vote, please visit http://futurebusinesscentre.co.uk/events/cambridgesoup-2 for more details and to register your attendance.
