Business leaders attend Pure Executive and Grant Thornton’s summer Director Clubs

Pure Executive, in partnership with Grant Thornton, has brought together over 130 business leaders from across the East of England for its summer series of Directors Clubs.

The Directors Clubs provide the chance for C-suite professionals to come together to share experiences, gain insights from industry experts and to discuss topical issues likely to impact on businesses and the regional economy. The summer series was held during June and July in Cambridge, Chelmsford, Ipswich and Norwich. The key theme was operational optimisation. Discussions were based around change management, reviewing systems, processes and procedures to gain the benefits of potential efficiency improvement, cost savings and freeing up valuable resources to focus on more strategic matters.

Guest speakers also spoke of the employee journey through change management and shared their experience of best practice projects they have been involved in. These included Dr Helen Brown, former Chief Executive at Carers Trust, Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Norfolk, who first joined the social enterprise when it was just two small Crossroads charities about to merge. Helen’s career as a senior executive also includes international operating experience and extensive expertise in the insurance industry. She has an established track record of advising at board level on strategic change, investing in technology and streamlining operations to deliver efficiency, scalability and meet critical customer requirements. Helen also addressed the impact of change on people, with special reference to cultural differences and organisational values.

Charles Rowett, Chief Executive Officer of Suffolk law firm Gotelee Solicitors, was also a guest speaker at the Directors Clubs. Charles joined the firm at a time when the legal sector is changing rapidly and brought with him years of experience as the former Chief Executive of Yorkshire Cancer Research. He specialises in developing and growing businesses, strategic marketing and leadership.

Jodie Woodrow, Senior Manager at Pure Executive, said: “At a time when the availability of skilled resource is limited, efficiency is more important than ever. Streamlining processes and behaviours is necessary to ensure organisations are able to get more out of less and realise their growth ambitions. As well as looking at ways to optimise operations, the sessions also covered the wider ‘emotional’ impact of potential changes and how the culture of an organisation can affect how smoothly and quickly changes can be implemented. There was also plenty of time for guests to share approaches with each other and to gain input and ideas from other business leaders”

The Directors Clubs are part of an extensive calendar of events by Pure Executive, a division of Pure, professional recruitment specialists for the East of England, designed to support local businesses to develop talent, create engaging places to work and to support the economic growth of the Eastern region.
