Explore Independent Cambridge - Cambridge Original Printmakers

With the help of Independent Cambridge - the community of ‘real’ Cambridge - Cambridge Network continues its weekly exploration of the best independent shops, cafés, restaurants, people, businesses, venues and events in Cambridge and the surrounding area. This week: Cambridge Original Printmakers.

Following the acclaimed second show held in 2016, the third Cambridge Original Printmakers exhibition will once again be held at the Pitt Building in Trumpington Street (Cambridge CB2 1RP), from Friday 21 September until Saturday 29 September 2018.

Cambridge Original Printmakers is a wonderful, independent event that aims to celebrate, educate and promote hand-made original printmaking within the Cambridgeshire area. The 2018 exhibition will have individual printmakers who specialise in hand-pulled, original work; MA students from Anglia Ruskin University; printmakers from Gainsborough House; and The Curwen Print Study Centre, an educational charity will also be exhibiting.

There'll be 43 local printmakers all displaying their wonderful hand-pulled original prints, plus a whole host of talks and workshops throughout the event which you can book here.

Exciting keynote talks will be taking place throughout the weekend given by prominent printmakers including Serena Smith, Bronwen Sleigh, Paul Catherall, Jane Human and Louise Stebbing.

Workshops will be held during the week, along with print demonstrations, providing information about the many printmaking techniques, including the latest technology available from Polaroid on 3D printers. The Cambridge Original Printmakers team are also working on a new project that supports the educational aspect of printmaking. Sixth form print students from three local colleges will be offered the opportunity to exhibit selected prints at the Biennale.

At this unique event you will be able to meet the printmakers and buy limited edition original prints from the amazing talent that lies within Cambridge.

Mark the dates in your diary: 21 to 29 September 2018.
