Arthur Rank Hospice Charity seeks new Trustees

Arthur Rank Hospice Charity is looking for volunteer Trustees who can make a significant contribution to the Board by being able to share and implement their knowledge, expertise and experience.

Arthur Rank Hospice Charity has an outstanding reputation for excellence in palliative and end of life care. The organisation supports people in Cambridgeshire, who are living with life-limiting illnesses. The Hospice’s positive and practical services deliver care, counselling and education, helping patients to live well and their families to live on.

Excellent staff survey results in 2018 helped achieve gold accreditation in the Best Employers (Eastern region) and in February 2019 it was revealed that services in Cambridge had joined the success of the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre in Wisbech, by achieving an ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating.

Trustees are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the Hospice, its financial health and the probity of its activities in accordance with the Hospice’s governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines.

The charity is particularly keen to hear from local people with experience in the following areas:
• Finance
• Retail
• Fundraising and external communications
• NHS contracting
• Personal experience of hospice care

Successful applicants must be able to attend a minimum of four Board meetings each year, as well as Sub-Committee Meetings as appropriate. These Sub-Committees are: Finance, Clinical Governance, Fundraising and Remuneration and Nominations. Trustees are also expected to participate in Board development / planning days (typically one per year) and are encouraged to represent the charity at public events and take an active part in promotional activities.

Becoming a Trustee offers the opportunity for both personal and professional development and is highly rewarding. You will become part of a team of skilled people who are passionate about giving up their own time to help others. A full induction will be provided and you will be reimbursed for any reasonable expenses incurred in connection with your role.

Arthur Rank Hospice Charity is committed to equality of opportunity. The Board is interested in increasing its diversity by appointing Trustees from varied cultural, religious and racial backgrounds and a wide age range.
