Love Cambridge Restaurant Week to launch in April

Cambridge Business Improvement District (BID) is organising the city’s first ever #LoveCambridgeRestaurantWeek

More than 40 of the city’s best eateries have signed up to take part in the initiative, which will run from Monday 1 April to Sunday 7 April 2019.  With special set menus priced at £5, £10 or £15, the organisers at Cambridge BID hope to tempt local foodies to explore their city and discover new places to eat.

“We want to celebrate the city’s vibrant food scene by inspiring residents and employees to dine somewhere new,” comments Kristian Foreman, Marketing and Communications Executive at Cambridge BID.  “This is the first time so many Cambridge restaurants and eateries have come together to offer a whole week of menus at such affordable prices.  Whether you’re looking for a quick bite to eat or a three-course meal, Love Cambridge Restaurant Week has some sensational options to tickle your taste buds.”

Diners are invited to choose from a mouth-watering array of dishes.  Wild mushroom tagliatelle served with truffle oil sits alongside Suffolk ham hock served with caramelised pineapple and egg yolk gel; a four-course fine Indian dining experience offers an alternative to traditional British comfort food such as shepherd’s pie with mash and gravy.  For a lighter bite, diners can opt for toasted sourdough sandwiches or a trio of Venetian Cicchetti dishes.  Those with a sweet tooth will want to savour the citrus meringue fool or waffles with gelato and a topping.

"The high street is changing,” Kristian adds.  “We recognise that restaurants and eateries have a particularly significant part to play in encouraging people to shop locally, rather than online.  They help to deliver an ‘experience’, through the ambience that they create and the food that they serve – and so we’re keen to help them thrive.”

Diners are invited to visit www.cambridgebid.co.uk/restaurant-week to view set menus and download a voucher that can be redeemed at their restaurant of choice. One lucky diner will also win a Love Cambridge Gift Card, loaded with £100 to spend at over 200 locations in Cambridge.
