Senior Software Engineer at KETS

At KETS Quantum, we are developing secure communications using future-proof, scalable, and easily-deployed photonic hardware. The founding team have invented the world’s first chip-based quantum secured encryption technologies – from quantum random number generators to quantum key distribution devices.

Reporting to the CTO, you will be joining us at a critical stage in the development of our first products. You will be part of the engineering and technology development team and will specialise in software engineering for the control, data-processing, and communications systems of quantum secured communication products. You will work closely with analogue and digital electronic hardware engineers. Experience in one or more of the following is required: software development and engineering (C/C++ or equivalent), software architecture, data processing, knowledge of communications and security concepts. Experience of working in teams specialising in technology development is essential.

The postholder will be responsible for developing and implementing software for the control, data-processing, and communications systems of quantum secured communication products.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the CTO and working with a multi-disciplinary engineering team to develop and implement the software systems for quantum secured communication products.
  • Development of software for the control, data processing, and communication systems for QKD technology in a network setting
  • Development and management of technical documentation detailing the developed software systems
  • Effective and co-operative communication with co-workers

 

Essential Skills:

  • An excellent first degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or other relevant discipline with relevant work/research experience
  • Work experience in software development and engineering (C/C++ or equivalent)
  • Experience in software architecture, data processing, and knowledge of communications and security concepts
  • Experience interfacing software and electronic hardware
  • Experience of working in teams specialising in technology development, the ability to manage projects, and a desire to work in the emerging quantum technology industry are essential.

 

Desirable skills

  • Experience with software for commercial telecommunications and networks
  • Knowledge of quantum communications and cryptography systems
  • Experience in embedded software in C or equivalent
  • Experience with kdb+
  • Experience programming for both Windows and Linux
  • Experience with test driven development
  • Understanding of both hardware and software
  • Experience of working in an interdisciplinary context
  • Experience bringing products to market
