Lord Woolley is Principal of Homerton College and a pioneer of social justice through better representation of ethnic minorities in education and public life.
He started a campaign in the 1990s to increase their involvement in politics by changes to school curricula, encouragement of voter registration, and increased diversity of local councillors and MPs. He has also worked to enable disadvantaged youth employment.
He will relate his life story of a journey from a Council house in Leicester to the House of Lords, where he sits as a crossbencher.
