AccorInvest to fund and operate Cambridge North’s new four-star hotel

Plans for the new district around Cambridge North Station have taken a decisive step forward as AccorInvest has committed to operate the site’s forthcoming four-star hotel.

This new hotel will be one the first investment projects funded by AccorInvest who will be taking a long-term interest in the property. The hotel will be managed by Accor under the Novotel brand.

Located at Cambridge Square next to the station and due to open in Autumn 2020, the 217-bed Novotel will feature a restaurant, bar, gym, 10m swimming pool and conference facilities, providing much needed amenities around the station ahead of further development to bring homes, shops and offices.

As the first commercial building post-opening of the station in May 2017, this is a major milestone for Brookgate and the landowner Network Rail, who have been working jointly over the past 5 years to realise development opportunities at Cambridge North.

Site enabling work has already commenced to service the hotel and wider development plots. Hotel construction will start next month and once completed, the hotel will bring over 60 full time jobs to the area, as well as providing many employment opportunities during the building phase.

Sven Topel, Chief Executive at Brookgate, said: “It’s fantastic news for Cambridge North to attract an international hotel operator to the area. We’re excited to see the development win this commitment, a key step in the growth of Cambridge North into a great place to live, visit and work. The hotel will be a catalyst for bringing life, jobs and amenities to the area and encouraging further phases to progress.”

Olivier Daguzan, Chief Operating Officer Northern Europe at AccorInvest, said: “This new development in Cambridge which is one of the first fully funded by AccorInvest since the official creation of the company in May 2018 is demonstrating our ability to seize development opportunity in key locations. It is fully aligned with our strategy of owner and operator in the midscale segment in Europe.”
