Over the last year, we received generous contributions of laptops and smartphones from the community - items we know can be invaluable to many. The downside is that, although the items are usable (with lots of life left in their tanks), it is not within WaveLength's ability to provide second-hand items directly to beneficiaries. So, in order to get the items safely into the hands of those who need them, we helped establish The NextPath Device Consortium.
On Tuesday, 4 August 2026, we contributed items and financial support to Freddie Quek and Paul Finnis, the founders of The NextPath. They are committed ‘to creating a united tech sector driving responsible device donation’, reducing e-waste, and bridging the digital divide. The NextPath’s vision is devices for all, and aims to achieve this by bringing together members of the tech industry to refurbish, reuse and contribute devices.
At WaveLength and The International Centre for Happiness, we also believe in the benefit of reusing devices. Nationwide digital inclusion is not only important for providing citizens with access to education, career opportunities, healthcare, political and newsworthy updates, but for fostering communication and belonging. That's why our own device contribution scheme is one of the direct ways we currently tackle loneliness and isolation. Through The NextPath's framework, organisations can actively tackle the digital divide through contributions and seamlessly demonstrate their Environmental, Social and Governance commitments.
