Working in partnership with Carbon Footprint Ltd, which specialises in helping companies adopt environmentally friendly working practices, Bush has pledged to plant a new tree in return for every house sold or property let. It is projected that the company will have planted around 400 new trees within Cambridge in the first year.
The initiative, which will see new trees being planted in Cambridge’s green spaces, is part of a major commitment Bush is making to help to reduce not only its own carbon footprint but that of its clients. The new initiative will ensure Cambridge remains a desirable place to live with areas of natural beauty to benefit city residents now and well into the future
In addition to its tree planting programme, Bush is also reviewing all its operations to make them greener. This includes updating its offices with the fitting of new low energy lighting, using electronic communications where possible, and where paper is required, only FSC approved and recycled paper will be used
Staff at its Mill Road branches have also enthusiastically committed to the cause by agreeing to walk or cycle to local appointments rather than using a car
Andrew Bush, Managing Director, at Bush, comments, “We are delighted to be at the vanguard of property specialists in Cambridge that are making a long-term commitment to contributing to a greener future for our city.
“All businesses have a responsibility to operate in a cleaner and more efficient way and we hope the green journey that Bush is embarking on will play a key role in that now and for decades to come. We believe that our clients highly value our service and they will respond positively to being able to reduce their own carbon footprints when they appoint us
“Our staff too, many who are younger property professionals, have helped to steer and encourage our approach. We are proud to be the first agent to make such a commitment to planting trees in Cambridge, but we are sure that other businesses will follow.”
Bush has had a great start to 2019 and recently celebrated its best-ever month for lettings when 31 new tenants were moved into new properties in August. To help support continued growth and expansion of the business two new members of staff have also been appointed. Alex Preston joins the Bush Lettings team and Poppie Chamberlain adds to the ever-growing Bush Sales team
“There is good strong growth for tenanted properties in Cambridge and our exciting new plant a tree scheme will no doubt encourage many more new city residents to choose Bush”, concludes Andrew.
