The new studio is based within a shared charity and social enterprise hub on Cambridge Business Park and will deliver government-funded support, via the Youth Guarantee scheme, for young people aged 18–21. The service provides specialist one-to-one music mentoring combined with wellbeing-focused support, helping participants rebuild confidence, engagement and direction towards education, training or work.
Noise Solution has more than 15 years’ experience supporting young people facing complex barriers and currently delivers around 700 hours of one-to-one mentoring every month. Its approach is informed by research carried out at the University of Cambridge into the organisation’s work and impact.
The organisation has been recognised with 25 national awards for its impact, including evidence of re-engagement with education or training, avoidance of mental health admissions, and reduced pressure on overstretched public services.
The Youth Guarantee is a Labour Government initiative which aims to ensure all young people have access to education, training, apprenticeships or employment. Places remain available on the Youth Guarantee programme for 18–21-year-olds in Cambridgeshire who would benefit from personalised, creative support into learning, training or work.
Daniel Zeichner MP said: “The Youth Guarantee is about making sure young people are not left behind. Noise Solution’s work shows what can be achieved when support is built around trust, creativity and evidence. This new studio will make a real difference to young people in Cambridge by helping them re-engage, build confidence and move towards education, training or work.”
One former participant said: “I benefited hugely from your Noise Solution programme. My mother was told that she should accept that I would always be in a psychiatric ward. Since Noise Solution, I returned to education, left music college with a Distinction, and I am now about to write my third-year dissertation on how music engagement can enhance, motivate, and inspire. My entire educational journey has been inspired by the work Noise Solution does.”
Simon Glenister, Chief Executive of Noise Solution, said: “Our work is rooted in research and real-world impact. We specialise in engaging young people who traditional systems struggle to reach and supporting them to rebuild wellbeing, agency and direction – often with transformative results.”
