Featurespace, which uses advanced statistical modelling software to fight fraud and help companies optimise their marketing, was recently named in Business Weekly’s Tech 21 list of “global game-changers” for 2012.
The venture-backed company is predicting significant compound year-on-year growth, driven by a move into new markets, including financial services, retail and ecommerce. Among Featurespace’s investors is arguably Cambridge’s most successful entrepreneur, Autonomy co-founder and CEO, Dr Mike Lynch.
Ideas by Eden won a competitive three-way pitch to design and develop the new website for Featurespace, which will be powered by the content management system (CMS), Wordpress.
It is intended that the new website will be a fundamental part of what Featurespace’s VP of Marketing, Jeremy Jones describes as a “lead generation ecosystem.” The new website will provide a tailored, contextualised experience for each of the company’s target market segments, actively ‘qualifying’ interest within each of them. Key to this will be full integration with web-to-lead nurturing system, Pardot.
The new website will be at the centre of Featurespace’s marketing activities, delivering video content such as webinars and video product presentations; providing a news and content resource for customers, partners and the press; and acting as the platform for the company’s range of social media commentaries.
Jeremy said: “For a company that specialises in software for examining and predicting individual behaviour, it might come as no surprise that we would like to showcase those principles on our website. The new website will be the central hub to our marketing strategy and we were happy to entrust it to Ideas By Eden, who we felt could inject the required combination of skill, imagination and strategic thinking.”
Ideas By Eden Director, Christian Scott added: “It is always particularly exciting working with innovative, high-growth companies like Featurespace. We are confident that we can rise to the challenge of delivering a website that helps them to meet their ambitious growth targets and continues to meet their requirements as they move to the next stage in their development.”

About Featurespace
Founded in 2005, Featurespace is an organisation specialising in the development and deployment of software applications for risk management and marketing optimisation. Utilising cutting-edge research into advanced statistical modelling, including Bayesian Inference, Featurespace’s solutions are able to automatically profile customer activity on an individual-by-individual basis, in real-time, even when customer interactions run into many millions per day. These personalised profiles feed into an advanced analytics engine that self-refines or ‘learns’ over time to predict - with unrivalled accuracy - customer behaviour.
The company was founded by current CEO Dave Excell, whose interest in the commercial power of real-time Bayesian Inference modelling arose during his PhD studies at Cambridge University into behavioural analytics. Featurespace’s co-founder and fellow board member, William Fitzgerald, is Professor of Applied Statistics at Cambridge University, which ensures the company remains at the forefront of analytical thinking. An investor and non-executive director of the company is another of Professor Fitzgerald’s Engineering Department alumni: Dr Mike Lynch OBE, founder and former CEO of Autonomy, whose Bayesian approach underpinned Autonomy’s highly successful conceptual search and contextual linguistic analysis tools. Headquartered in Cambridge, UK, Featurespace is supported by a wide range of private and institutional investors.
