Lord Astor visits Marshall of Cambridge

Lord Astor, Permanent Under Secretary of State for Defence, visited Marshall of Cambridge last week to learn about Marshall Aerospace & Defence Group. During his tour the Minister presented a Certificate of Commendation to David Firth, a second year Technician Apprentice who, following his training, will join Engineering as an Electrical/Avionics Design Engineer.

This Certificate was given to mark his achievements to date for:

·               Most Innovative Design Award at IMechE Apprentice Team Challenge in 2011
·               Top First Year Aerospace Apprentice at Marshall Group Apprentice Awards in 2012
·               Regional Winner of ‘EEF Outstanding Achievement by a First Year Apprentice’ Award in November 2012.  He will now be one of only five remaining apprentices in the country at the National Final, to be judged at a Gala Dinner in London at the end of the month.

The photograph shows the Minister handing over the certificate.

Lord Astor said: ‘Marshall of Cambridge is firmly on our radar as a very capable company and it was a pleasure to present this certificate recognising the quality of the Marshall Apprentice Training Scheme.’
