Neil, who iworks for Skanska in Ipswich, studied part-time at Anglia Ruskin University. The annual award is made using nominations from course tutors.
Apart from the cash prize Neil also received a shield and certificate which were presented at the Skanska Ipswich office last Thursday (28 Feb) by ICE Suffolk Branch Chairman Peter Wyllie.
Peter said: “It was great to meet Neil who is dedicated and progressing to complete the honours degree There is a shortage of civil engineers entering the profession and with this being National Apprenticeship Week (4-8 March) we hope to attract more interest in this fantastic career.”
Neil admitted it is quite a commitment especially with a young family but he is finding the challenge worth the effort and thoroughly enjoying his job.
His manager Chris Hubbard said: “This is great recognition for Neil, who is a valuable member of the team. We’re delighted to support his development and I believe we can offer some great opportunities for his career here at Skanska.”
