Seeking SMEs interested in finance for energy efficiency or carbon reduction

Energy bills are a growing headache for small businesses, and if you're already tackling yours - switching suppliers, looking at solar, batteries or heat pumps, or exploring flexibility schemes - you can help improve the support banks offer businesses like yours.

Icebreaker One is recruiting a small number of SMEs for a pilot with Project Perseus, working directly with real banks to shape the financial incentives that come out of it. It's a genuine seat at the table while the products are still being designed, not something you're offered once it's finished. It can all be done remotely and is very light touch in terms of effort.

This is for you if you:

  • Are a customer of Lloyds, Barclays or NatWest
  • Are improving your energy efficiency, or installing/considering low-carbon tech (batteries, heat pumps, solar)
  • Are participating in, or interested in, shifting when you use power (flexibility markets)

Why this matters: banks want to support businesses investing in efficiency - preferential rates, tailored loans, fairer credit terms - but they often can't see what these investments actually deliver, so it's hard to price risk fairly or design the right products. Perseus fixes that: it's UK infrastructure, backed by Lloyds, NatWest and Barclays among others, that lets energy data flow securely from your meter into your accounting software and, with permission, to your lender - no spreadsheets, no consultants, just a verified picture banks can use.
