The aim of this competition is to develop innovative ways of achieving commercial-scale production volumes along with significant reductions in the lifetime costs of fuel cell systems. The TSB says: "We particularly welcome the involvement of companies that can bring technical expertise and knowledge from outside the fuel cell sector.
"As well as promoting innovation and cost reduction in fuel cell manufacturing, this competition supports supply-chain development and encourages the development of partnerships between companies and researchers from differing sectors unaccustomed to working with each other.
"Projects must be business-led and collaborative and may last for up to three years. We are primarily seeking to fund industrial research, with a business partner attracting 50% public funding for their project costs (60% for SMEs). We expect projects to range in size from £100k to £1.5m with the maximum total project size being around £2m. We may consider larger projects but applicants should contact us directly before making their application to discuss further."
This two-stage collaborative research and development (R&D) competition opens for applicants on 4 November 2013.
