Cambridge, UK – TTP has published a new e-book, Closing the loop in neuromodulation therapy, exploring the technologies, design decisions and trade-offs shaping the next generation of adaptive neuromodulation devices.
Closed-loop neuromodulation promises more personalised, responsive therapies by sensing a patient’s physiological state and adjusting stimulation in real time. However, delivering these benefits in real-world devices requires more than sophisticated algorithms. Success depends on selecting clinically meaningful biomarkers and integrating them into systems that are robust, power-efficient, intuitive for clinicians, and acceptable to patients over the full device lifetime.
Drawing on TTP’s experience supporting neurotechnology programmes from early biomarker exploration through to product development, the e-book examines the critical challenges teams face when transitioning from open-loop to closed-loop systems. Topics include biomarker selection and validation, signal processing and algorithms, hardware and power-management trade-offs, and the importance of a systems-level design approach.
“Closed-loop systems only deliver value if the right biomarker is chosen and engineered into a therapy that works reliably in the real world,” said Ilya Tarotin, an expert in early-stage design and development of neuromodulation devices at TTP. “This e-book brings together practical insights to help teams de-risk development and accelerate progress.”
The e-book is aimed at neuromodulation developers, R&D leaders and product teams navigating the complexity of next-generation therapy design.
