Assistant Teaching Professor in Environmental and Political Geography (Part Time, Fixed Term)

The Department of Geography wishes to appoint a 0.6 FTE five-year fixed-term Assistant Teaching Professor in Environmental and Political Geography, starting from 1 October 2026.

Within the 0.6 FTE pro rata limits, the main responsibilities of the role will be a focus on Outreach and Widening Participation, curriculum development and teaching leadership, and on contributing to Departmental policy on AI in and for teaching and assessment. As appropriate, the applicant will also plan, prepare and deliver lectures, seminars and practical classes for students on the Geography undergraduate degree and, where appropriate, Master's programmes, with a focus on environmental and political geographies, and research skills and methods. An interest in the Pacific and Small-Island States is desirable. They will also contribute to relevant examination and assessment of these courses.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Environmental and/or Political Geography, or a cognate subject. They will possess evidence of extensive and relevant teaching experience in related fields. The successful candidate will demonstrate close familiarity with the relevant fields through high-quality research publications.
