Front End Innovation – Internship

We are looking for a curious, organised and proactive individual to join our Front End Innovation team on a 2 month fixed term contract.

Our Front End Innovation team helps healthcare clients explore new opportunities and make confident decisions during the earliest stages of product  development. The team brings together user, technical and commercial perspectives to define problems, investigate opportunities and set a clear strategy and direction for development. 

This varied role will combine practical administrative and organisational activities with desk-based research and project support. The successful candidate will primarily support Front End Innovation, while also helping our Digital Health and Human Factors teams with selected activities.

This role offers the opportunity to work alongside Team’s innovation, strategy, technical, research and consulting specialists and build practical experience through support on both internal and client-specific activities.

You will help us to: 

  •  Review and organise existing case studies, reports, presentations and other reusable knowledge. 
  • Help maintain contacts, opportunities and target-organisation databases. 
  • Organise  innovation workshop tools and equipment. 
  • Explore new research and innovation tools, including appropriate applications of AI-enabled research tools and virtual workshop technology. 
  • Help improve shared folders, templates, trackers and team resources. 
  • Support suitable elements of live Front End Innovation projects. 
  • Provide similar project and housekeeping support to the Digital Health and Human Factors teams when required. 

We are more interested in your capability, mindset and transferable skills than in extensive previous experience. You should be able to demonstrate:

  • An ability to identify important information and summarise it clearly. 
  • Good written, verbal and visual communication. 
  • Confidence using Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word. 
  • Attention to detail and a systematic approach to organising information. 
  • Curiosity about healthcare, technology, innovation and user-centred design. 
  • A willingness to undertake a mixture of research, project-support and administrative activities. 
  • The ability to manage defined tasks, meet deadlines and ask for guidance when needed. 
  • A collaborative, adaptable and positive approach. 
  • Strong research and analytical skills. 
  • Previous experience in healthcare, medical devices, human factors, market research or consulting would be useful, but is not essential.

Qualifications & Skills

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in an area such as: 
  • Science or engineering 
  • Product, industrial, service or digital design 
  • Digital technology or data 
  • Psychology or behavioural science 
  • Business, innovation or strategy 
  • Another relevant analytical, research or creative discipline
