We are seeking a proactive and confident HR Advisor to join the Human Resources team at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB). In this varied and rewarding role, you will work in a dual role managing training activities whilst also providing generalist HR Advisory support to a dedicated area.
You will provide advice to staff and managers in relation to training needs, research providers and venues, managing regular and ad hoc training activities for both science and support staff. You will work closely with the central UKRI Learning and Development (L&D) team, participating in regular meetings and aiming to raise the profile and needs of the LMB. On the HR side, you will lead the full recruitment lifecycle, manage complex recruitment queries, and provide high quality generalist HR support, advising on areas including absence management, conduct, and performance. You will work closely with scientists, managers, administrators, and employees at all levels, ensuring a consistently professional, approachable, and solutions focused HR service.
We are looking for someone who is CIPD Level 5 qualified, working towards it, or able to demonstrate equivalent HR experience. You should bring recent experience in a busy HR environment, including hands-on involvement in recruitment and the delivery of generalist HR advice. Knowledge of UK immigration rules is an advantage. Strong communication skills, excellent organisation, attention to detail, and the ability to remain diplomatic and patient in challenging situations are essential.
This role is ideal for an experienced HR Administrator ready to take the next step, or an existing HR Advisor looking to move into an L&D focussed role.
This is a full time position, though we welcome applications from candidates seeking part time hours (minimum 28 hours per week). After completing essential training, informal hybrid working arrangements can be considered.
