Receptionist/Secretary (Internal applicants only)

The University of Cambridge is one of the world's oldest universities and leading academic centres. If you're looking for a new challenge and would like excellent benefits, extensive learning opportunities and a stimulating working environment in return for your skills and contribution, there could be a job here for you.

The Department of Chemistry is looking to recruit a new Receptionist/Secretary. This is a key role in this friendly Department as you will be the first point of contact for staff, students and visitors in a very large, busy reception office, covering a varied and vast number of duties. This includes providing postal, courier, and all administrative services; providing secretarial work to a small panel of academics, and maintaining the Mifare security system where required.

The successful applicant will have GCSE's in English and Mathematics and will be computer literate. A word processing qualification would be desirable but not essential. You will have good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills plus being able to use your own initiative, meet deadlines, keep calm under pressure, multi-task and prioritise. You must have self-confidence and have the ability to deal with a wide range of people at all levels with tact and diplomacy.
