1st Cambridge Information and Intellectual Property Meeting this July

Two local businesses, Extract Information and Patent Search & Information Management, have joined forces to create a new meeting for Cambridge, bringing together IP professionals and technology innovators for an afternoon of knowledge sharing on the themes of commercialisation, IP, patent information and licensing of technology.

Effective development, protection and commercialisation of intellectual property assets are key in enhancing the value of research and innovation. Once developed, exploiting that IP effectively is fundamental to business success.  How to encourage success?

The 1st Cambridge Information and Intellectual Property Meeting (CIIPM) aims to bring together people who have an interest in technology innovation, and its commercialisation.  The programme will review every stage of that journey from the information perspective.  That information could be the ‘information asset’ - the earliest stage of a new technology development, or it could be information rooted in an old patent about to expire, which in turn will generate new opportunities.

CIIPM, with its focus on ‘end-to-end technology innovation’ offers delegates the opportunity to learn and to discuss the various elements of using information to build successful IP strategies such as:

  • Designing and implementing IP strategies
  • Information and confidentiality
  • Novel approaches to innovation, innovation harvesting, innovation management
  • Finance matters, understanding UK Government’s R&D Tax Credits, Patent Box
  • IP valuation, Licensing strategies
  • Understanding commercialisation opportunities
  • Implementing technology transfer and collaboration agreements
  • Patent intelligence, patent landscaping and IP informatics
  • Freedom-to-operate issues
  • Effective portfolio management
  • Competitive intelligence
  • White space analysis
  • Seeking investors and collaborators
  • Contracts and agreements

The organisers say: "Join us for an afternoon of talks and discussions.  There will be plenty of time for networking, and refreshments throughout and at the end.  In addition we offer a very select table top exhibit where you can meet IP practitioners and information service providers."

This knowledge-sharing meeting offers an opportunity to learn through case study examples and input from experts who are rarely together in one place.  The event should be of interest to technology  CEOs and CTOs, and R&D management of technology companies, IP managers, investors, university technology transfer groups, IP analysts, patent attorneys, technology scouts, and all those with an interest in innovation and technology commercialisation in its broadest sense.

The 1st Cambridge Information & Intellectual Property Meeting takes place on Wednesday, 13 July, at Homerton College, Cambridge, at a cost of £75 + VAT.
