The results will be announced at the Annual Merit Awards Dinner and presented by ICE President Geoff French on Friday 27 June at the Cambridge Belfry Hotel, Cambourne.
The purpose of the Merit Awards is to:
- Recognise merit within the practising profession.
- Encourage excellence and pride in the work of civil engineers.
- Raise general awareness of the valuable contributions that civil engineering provides to society.
- Encourage team working to overcome adversity and drive benefits for people and environment for future generations.
Projects must be physically located within the ICE East of England Region which includes Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, Peterborough and Suffolk but excludes any London Boroughs. They must have been completed, that is to say opened or commissioned or occupied, by the competition closing date 25 April 2014. Thus, the 2014 awards will be for projects completed between 1st January 2013 and 25 April 2014.
Entries must demonstrate excellence in one of the following categories. It is not necessary that more than one category is demonstrated. Projects may be entered for more than one category as listed below.
- Physical Achievement
- Technical Excellence and Innovation
- Sustainable Construction/Engineering
- Team Achievement
