Roads Minister Robert Goodwill said:
“The decision not to toll the A14 shows this government has listened carefully to the concerns raised by members of Parliament, local residents, businesses and haulage operators who rely on this road on a daily basis.
“We can now move forward with delivering improvements to the A14 which is an important economic route for the east of England. Subject to statutory processes, improvement works will start in 2016. In the meantime, we will continue to work closely with local authorities in securing contributions from those who will benefit from the improvements.”
