The event, designed to help would-be students find out more about the specialist courses, attracted visitors planning to go on to university and train in new sectors, including nursing, social work and science.
The college runs a successful Access to HE programme, with courses available in a number of subject areas including humanities, nursing, science, and social work. The full-time and part-time (evening) courses provide the qualifications necessary to go on to university.
CRC tutor Helen West, who heads Access programmes at the college, said it had been a very successful open event.
“The information evening was aimed specifically at adults thinking of going to university but needing extra qualifications. It was an opportunity to give visitors plenty of time to talk to lecturers and to find out the types of progression available,” she said.
“Every year our Access to Higher Education courses help many students improve their academic qualifications and progress to university. We were very pleased with the number of people who came along to our latest event and a lot of visitors applied straight away.”
